Masala Chai Tea – Rich, Malty and Beautifully Spiced

A little spice makes everything nice!

Our Masala Chai Tea is a wonderfully aromatic blend of rich black tea and carefully balanced spices, creating a full-flavoured cuppa with a lovely malty character and a warming, fragrant finish.

Inspired by the traditional spiced teas of India, this distinctive blend brings together ginger, cassia, black pepper, cardamom, cloves and nutmeg.

It’s a tea with plenty of personality, equally enjoyable as a comforting mug on a rainy afternoon or a fragrant treat while sitting in the sunshine.

And if you enjoy a proper cup of tea with a little extra character, this one might be right up your street.

A Taste of the West Gold Award Winner

We were rather delighted when our Masala Chai Tea received a Taste of the West Gold Award in 2020.

It’s always lovely when something you’ve created receives recognition, particularly a blend with so many complementary flavours.

Our Masala Chai brings together the richness of black tea with a carefully chosen combination of spices, each adding something special to the finished cup.

The result is a beautifully rounded tea that we’re particularly proud to have in our collection.

Of course, awards are lovely, but we think the real pleasure for us is all the lovely feedback we receive!

A Little Taste of Chai Tradition

Masala Chai has its roots in India, where spiced tea is enjoyed in homes, cafés and bustling streets.

Traditionally prepared with black tea, aromatic spices, milk and often a little sweetness, it’s a drink with a wonderfully rich history.

Every chai wallah, or tea maker, has their own favourite combination of ingredients, and ours is the blend we’ve chosen to share with you.

We love the way the spices complement the tea rather than overpowering it, creating a cuppa that’s fragrant, full-bodied and wonderfully satisfying.

Seven Ingredients, One Lovely Cuppa

What makes our Masala Chai Tea so enjoyable is the way its ingredients work together.

The black tea provides a rich, malty foundation, while ginger adds a gentle warmth.

Cassia brings a sweet, cinnamon-like character, cardamom contributes its distinctive fragrance, and cloves and nutmeg add lovely depth.

A little black pepper completes the blend with a subtle spicy lift.

Together, these seven ingredients create a beautifully balanced infusion with plenty of flavour and an inviting aroma.

How to Brew Masala Chai Tea

One of the lovely things about Masala Chai is that there is more than one way to enjoy it.

For an everyday cuppa:

Place one tea bag into your favourite mug and pour over freshly boiled water.

Allow the tea to infuse until it reaches your preferred strength, then enjoy it with or without milk.

For a traditional-style milky chai:

Place one tea bag into approximately a quarter of a cup of freshly boiled water.

Allow it to infuse for at least 6 minutes, giving the spices time to release their flavours.

Sweeten with a little honey or sugar if you wish, then top up with hot milk.

The result is a rich, fragrant and beautifully spiced cuppa.

However you choose to enjoy it, it’s your tea, so make it just the way you like it!

A Lovely Cuppa Whatever the Weather

There’s something wonderfully inviting about the aroma of freshly brewed Masala Chai.

Its rich flavour makes it a lovely companion to a leisurely breakfast, an afternoon tea break or a quiet moment with your favourite book.

Enjoy it piping hot with a splash of milk, or try a stronger brew cooled and poured over ice for a refreshing spiced milk tea.

It’s a versatile blend with plenty of character, ready to be enjoyed throughout the year.

Naturally Caffeinated

Unlike herbal infusions, our Masala Chai Tea contains black tea and is naturally caffeinated.

It’s a lovely alternative to a traditional breakfast tea when you fancy something with a little extra spice.

With its rich, malty flavour and aromatic ingredients, it offers a distinctive twist on the familiar pleasure of a good cuppa.

Fancy Exploring Another Tea?

If you enjoy spiced flavours but fancy something naturally caffeine-free, discover our Masala Rooibos Chai Tea, a lovely alternative made with rooibos.

For another aromatic favourite, try our Spiced Winter Rooibos Tea. Despite its name, it’s a deliciously spiced infusion to enjoy throughout the year.

Or, if you prefer a more traditional black tea, our All Day Tea offers a smooth, rich and malty flavour without the added spices.

There’s always another lovely cuppa waiting to be discovered.

Tea with a Little Westcountry Character

At Westcountry Tea Co, we’ve been producing tea since 2010 from our home in Cornwall.

In 2018, we became one of Britain’s first 100% plastic-free tea companies, something we’re still incredibly proud of.

Our biodegradable tea bags are made using plant-based materials, while our compostable inner packaging and recyclable cardboard boxes help us keep unnecessary plastic out of the picture.

We’re also proudly independent in the way we do business, supplying independent shops rather than the big supermarkets.

From Cornwall to tea lovers across the UK and beyond, we believe a good cuppa should be made with care and enjoyed with pleasure.

20 Biodegradable Tea Bags – Made in Cornwall

Each box of Masala Chai Tea contains 20 biodegradable tea bags, generously filled with quality, unground ingredients and carefully packed in Cornwall.
