There’s something rather lovely about a cup of green tea. Light, refreshing and full of delicate character, it’s a different sort of cuppa from a traditional breakfast brew.
Our Sencha Green Tea is a beautifully fresh green tea with gentle grassy notes, a clean flavour and a pleasantly smooth finish.
It’s the sort of tea that invites you to slow down just a little, enjoy the aroma rising from your mug and appreciate the simple pleasure of a well-made brew.
No elaborate ceremony required. Just a kettle, your favourite cup and a few peaceful minutes.
Sencha is a style of green tea traditionally associated with Japan, where it’s one of the most popular everyday teas.
Unlike black tea, green tea leaves are processed to prevent extensive oxidation, helping them retain their characteristic green colour and fresh flavour.
Sencha is particularly known for its grassy, vegetal notes and delicate balance of sweetness and gentle savoury character.
The result is a tea that feels fresh and lively without the fuller-bodied strength of a traditional black tea.
It’s a lovely choice for anyone who enjoys a lighter, more delicate cuppa with a distinctive flavour of its own.
Our Sencha Green Tea offers a refreshing combination of green, grassy aromas and a smooth, clean taste.
There can be a gentle savoury quality to Sencha, balanced by a subtle natural sweetness that becomes more noticeable when the tea is brewed carefully.
It’s this balance that makes Sencha such an enjoyable everyday green tea.
Rather than the rich, malty character of black tea, you get something lighter, fresher and wonderfully uncomplicated.
And while the flavour is delicate, there’s still plenty to discover in every sip.
Some teas are made for hearty breakfasts, while others are perfect when you fancy something a little lighter.
Sencha Green Tea fits beautifully into those moments.
Perhaps it’s a quiet start to the morning, a refreshing afternoon break or a gentle pause between one job and the next.
Its clean, grassy flavour makes a pleasant change from stronger teas, particularly when you want something that feels fresh rather than rich.
It’s also lovely after a meal, when a lighter cuppa can be especially appealing.
Sometimes a change of tea is all it takes to make an ordinary moment feel a little different.
Green tea deserves a little care when brewing, but there’s nothing complicated about it.
Place one tea bag into your favourite cup and pour over water that has cooled slightly after boiling, ideally to around 80°C.
Allow the tea to infuse for approximately 2–5 minutes, depending on how strong you prefer it.
Using water that’s too hot or leaving the tea to brew for too long can bring out more bitterness and overwhelm Sencha’s delicate flavour.
We recommend enjoying Sencha Green Tea without milk, allowing its fresh, grassy notes and natural sweetness to come through.
A lighter touch with the kettle really does make a difference!
Like other traditional green teas, Sencha Green Tea is naturally caffeinated.
Although its flavour is lighter than many black teas, that doesn’t mean it’s caffeine-free.
The caffeine content can vary depending on the tea and how it’s brewed.
For anyone who enjoys the fresh character of green tea, Sencha makes a lovely alternative to a traditional black tea cuppa.
Sencha Green Tea is delicious served warm, when its delicate aroma and grassy notes can be fully appreciated.
But it’s also a refreshing choice when served chilled.
Simply brew the tea as usual, allow it to cool and pour over ice.
A slice of lemon can add a little extra brightness if you fancy a change, although it’s equally lovely enjoyed on its own.
It’s a refreshing way to enjoy green tea when the weather warms up, without needing anything overly sweet.
If you enjoy Sencha Green Tea, there’s plenty more to explore in our collection.
Our Moroccan Mint Tea combines green tea with refreshing spearmint for a naturally caffeinated blend with a sweet, minty character.
For something with a distinctive citrus fragrance, try our Earl Grey Tea, a classic black tea with a lovely aromatic twist.
Our All Day Tea offers a lighter, gentler black tea for those who prefer a less robust everyday brew.
Or, if you fancy something naturally caffeine-free, our Lemon Verbena Tea has a refreshing, fragrant citrus character.
If you love the fresh, grassy character of our Sencha Green Tea but enjoy the pleasure of making a proper pot, our Sencha Green Loose Leaf Tea 70g is a lovely alternative.
