Jasmine Loose Leaf Tea 70g – A Beautifully Fragrant Floral Green Tea

Some teas make their first impression with flavour. Others win you over with their fragrance before you’ve even taken a sip.

Our Jasmine Loose Leaf Tea 70g is very much one of the latter.

Combining the fresh, delicate character of green tea with the wonderful fragrance of jasmine flowers, this traditional style of tea creates a beautifully aromatic cuppa.

There’s something rather special about the way the floral notes mingle with the gentle green tea flavour.

The jasmine brings a sweet, fragrant character, while the green tea provides a smooth, refreshing foundation.

Together, they create a cup that’s elegant without being fussy and full of flavour without being overpowering.

It’s lovely enjoyed during a quiet morning, as a refreshing afternoon cuppa or alongside a leisurely meal.

And although jasmine might bring to mind a garden filled with summer flowers, this is a tea to enjoy all year round.

A little floral fragrance can brighten any day.

What Is Jasmine Green Tea?

Jasmine tea is a traditional scented tea particularly associated with China, where tea makers have been combining tea leaves with the fragrance of jasmine flowers for generations.

Green tea is the most familiar base for jasmine tea, although other types of tea can also be scented with jasmine.

Our Jasmine Green Tea is traditionally scented using fresh Jasmine blossoms, which are brought into contact with the tea leaves, allowing their delicate floral fragrance to be naturally absorbed.

Interestingly, one of the signs of a good-quality Jasmine Green Tea is the presence of very few visible flowers. Once the blossoms have released their beautiful fragrance into the tea leaves, they are carefully removed, leaving behind their distinctive floral aroma.

This is why jasmine tea is wonderfully fragrant even when there are few or no visible flowers among the leaves.

The process of scenting tea is a lovely example of the skill and care involved in traditional tea making.

The aim is to bring together the character of the tea leaves and the fragrance of the flowers so that neither overwhelms the other.

And when the balance is right, the result is a beautifully delicate and refreshing cuppa.

What Does Jasmine Loose Leaf Tea Taste Like?

Our Jasmine Loose Leaf Tea offers a fresh green tea flavour with a lovely floral character.

The first thing you’ll notice is the fragrance.

Jasmine has a distinctive sweet, floral aroma that rises gently from the cup as the tea brews.

The green tea beneath it adds freshness and a subtle grassy character, creating a lovely balance between the floral notes and the natural flavour of the leaves.

It’s a softer experience than a robust breakfast tea, with a lighter body and a pleasantly clean finish.

Jasmine tea is particularly enjoyable without milk, allowing its delicate fragrance to shine through.

You may find that it needs no sweetening at all.

But if you prefer a little sweetness, that’s entirely up to you.

The pleasure of a good cuppa is finding the way you enjoy it most.

The Wonderful Fragrance of Jasmine Flowers

Jasmine is loved around the world for its distinctive fragrance.

Its small, often white flowers produce a sweet floral scent that has made jasmine a favourite in gardens, perfumery and traditional tea making.

When used to scent green tea, jasmine brings an entirely different character to the finished drink.

The fragrance is floral and gently sweet, complementing the fresh notes of the green tea rather than simply covering them.

It’s one of the reasons jasmine tea is so memorable.

Even before the first sip, there’s a lovely sense of anticipation as the aroma rises from the teapot.

And because fragrance is such an important part of tasting tea, it makes the whole experience rather special.

A little floral elegance, without any need to stand on ceremony.

Why Green Tea Works So Well with Jasmine

Green tea is a wonderful partner for jasmine because of its naturally fresh character.

Unlike black tea, green tea leaves are processed to limit oxidation, helping them retain their distinctive green tea flavour, which provides a lovely background for the fragrance of jasmine.

The green tea adds depth, while the jasmine brings an aromatic floral lift.

Neither needs to compete for attention.

The result is a tea that feels refreshing and beautifully balanced.

It’s a particularly lovely choice for anyone who enjoys green tea but fancies something a little more fragrant.

Naturally Contains Caffeine

Because Jasmine Loose Leaf Tea is made with green tea leaves, it naturally contains caffeine.

Although the jasmine fragrance gives the tea a gentle character, it isn’t a caffeine-free herbal infusion.

The amount of caffeine in a finished cup will vary depending on the quantity of tea used and the brewing method.

It’s a lovely choice for a morning cuppa or an afternoon break.

If you enjoy floral flavours but would prefer something naturally caffeine-free, our Lavender and Lemon Verbena Loose Leaf Tea 35g offers a fragrant alternative.

For another gentle floral infusion, there’s also our Camomile and Elderflower Loose Leaf Tea 30g.

Different ingredients, but the same appreciation for a beautifully fragrant cuppa.

The Pleasure of Brewing Loose Leaf Jasmine Tea

There’s something especially enjoyable about preparing a pot of loose leaf jasmine tea.

Before adding the water, take a moment to appreciate the fragrance of the dry leaves.

As the tea begins to infuse, the jasmine aroma gradually becomes more noticeable.

A roomy infuser or teapot allows the leaves space to open and release their flavour.

And because you’re preparing loose leaf tea, you can adjust the amount to suit your taste.

A little less tea produces a lighter cup.

A little more brings out a fuller green tea character.

It’s a lovely way to appreciate the relationship between the fragrance of jasmine and the flavour of the tea leaves.

Sometimes the making is nearly as enjoyable as the drinking.

Nearly.

How to Brew Jasmine Loose Leaf Tea

Jasmine green tea is best brewed gently, rather than with freshly boiling water.

For a beautifully fragrant cup, we suggest:

  • Use approximately one teaspoon of loose leaf tea per person, around 2g.
  • Heat fresh water to around 80°C.
  • Allow the tea to infuse for approximately 2–3 minutes.
  • Strain and enjoy.

Using water that’s too hot or leaving the tea to infuse for too long can bring out more bitterness from the green tea leaves.

A slightly cooler temperature helps preserve the delicate floral character.

For a lighter cup, begin with a shorter infusion.

If you prefer a fuller flavour, try adding a little more tea rather than leaving the leaves in the water for too long.

Jasmine tea is particularly lovely enjoyed without milk.

That way, its beautiful floral fragrance remains the star of the show.

A Lovely Tea to Enjoy with Food

Jasmine tea makes a delightful companion to food, especially dishes with lighter, fresher flavours.

Its floral fragrance and clean green tea character work beautifully alongside vegetable dishes, rice, delicate pastries and simple afternoon treats.

It’s also lovely served after a meal, when you fancy something fragrant rather than a strong black tea.

The tea’s delicate character means it doesn’t need to dominate the occasion.

It can simply sit alongside good food and good conversation.

And if you’re sharing a pot with someone who’s never tried jasmine tea before, the fragrance often provides a lovely introduction.

Sometimes a tea can be a conversation starter without saying a word.

Refreshing Jasmine Iced Tea

Jasmine is also a lovely tea to serve chilled.

Its delicate floral fragrance makes an elegant alternative to more familiar iced teas, particularly when you’re looking for something light and refreshing.

For a simple iced Jasmine Green Tea:

  1. Add approximately two teaspoons of Jasmine Loose Leaf Tea to 250ml of water at around 80°C.
  2. Allow the tea to infuse for 2–3 minutes.
  3. Strain and add 250ml of cold water.
  4. Leave to cool, then refrigerate until chilled.
  5. Serve over plenty of ice.

For a little extra freshness, add a thin slice of lemon or a few fresh raspberries.

You could also serve it simply over ice, allowing the jasmine fragrance to speak for itself.

It’s a lovely drink for sunny afternoons, garden lunches or when friends call round.

And because it has such a naturally fragrant character, it’s well worth trying without added sugar.

A Floral Green Tea for Every Season

Although jasmine tea has a light, fragrant character, there’s no reason to save it for warm weather.

On cooler mornings, a freshly brewed pot offers a lovely change from a traditional breakfast tea.

During warmer weather, it’s wonderfully refreshing chilled over ice.

It’s equally enjoyable alongside lunch, during an afternoon break or as part of a leisurely weekend.

And because the combination of jasmine and green tea is so distinctive, there’s no need for complicated additions.

Just good tea, gently brewed.

Sometimes that’s quite enough.
