Nettle and Rose Loose Leaf Tea 35g – A Lovely Little Floral Favourite

Some teas have a way of becoming part of everyday life without making a great fuss about it.

Our Nettle and Rose Loose Leaf Tea 35g is one of those blends.

Bringing together the gentle, green character of nettle with the delicate fragrance of rose, this naturally caffeine-free herbal infusion is beautifully simple and full of charm.

It’s a lovely choice for anyone who enjoys floral teas that are fragrant without being overpowering.

The nettle provides a soft, earthy, garden-green flavour, while the rose adds a gentle floral note that gives the blend its distinctive personality.

Together, they create a smooth, refreshing infusion that’s just as enjoyable during a quiet afternoon as it is at the end of a busy day.

And if you happen to leave your cup sitting for a while, you might discover that it’s rather lovely when it cools, too.

Martyn certainly seems to think so.

Two Garden Favourites, Beautifully Blended

There’s something rather appealing about creating a tea from two plants that feel so familiar.

Nettles might not be everyone’s favourite garden visitors, particularly when you meet one unexpectedly while wearing shorts.

But once carefully harvested and dried for tea, their leaves have a wonderfully gentle character.

Nettle brings a mild, earthy flavour with fresh, green notes that form the foundation of this blend.

Rose adds a softer, more fragrant touch.

Its delicate floral character lifts the nettle without overwhelming it, creating an infusion that’s beautifully balanced.

The result is a tea with a lovely sense of the garden about it.

Not too sweet, not too flowery and certainly not complicated.

Just two ingredients working rather nicely together.

What Does Nettle and Rose Loose Leaf Tea Taste Like?

Our Nettle and Rose Loose Leaf Tea has a gentle herbal flavour with a delicate floral finish.

The nettle provides a soft, green character, with subtle earthy notes and a natural freshness.

The rose brings a light, fragrant sweetness that sits pleasantly alongside the nettle.

Rather than tasting strongly perfumed, the blend has a balanced floral character that makes it easy to enjoy.

It’s particularly lovely without milk, allowing the individual herbs and flowers to shine through.

A little honey can be added if you prefer a sweeter infusion, although we’d suggest trying your first cup just as it is.

You might be surprised by how much flavour can come from such a simple combination.

And if you enjoy floral teas but find some a little too fragrant, Nettle and Rose is a lovely one to explore.

One of Martyn’s Favourites

Of all the teas we’ve created over the years, Nettle and Rose has become one of Martyn’s particular favourites.

There’s usually a mug of something nearby when we’re working, and this blend is one he returns to time and again.

He’s also quite happy to carry on drinking it when the tea has gone cold.

Whether that’s because he particularly enjoys it chilled or simply because there’s always something else to do at Westcountry Tea Co is open to debate!

Either way, it says something rather nice about the blend.

Its gentle, refreshing character works beautifully when freshly brewed, but it’s also lovely as it cools.

And that’s one of the pleasures of a good herbal tea.

Sometimes the simplest favourites are the ones that stay with you.

Naturally Caffeine-Free and Lovely at Any Time

Because Nettle and Rose is made from herbs and flowers rather than traditional black or green tea leaves, it’s naturally caffeine-free.

That makes it a lovely choice whenever you fancy a gentle herbal infusion without caffeine.

Enjoy it in the morning, as an afternoon break or as a pleasant alternative to your usual evening cuppa.

Its soft, floral character is particularly nice when you’re looking for something lighter than a traditional black tea.

And because the nettle and rose provide their own distinctive flavour, there’s no need to add milk.

Just a favourite mug, a little hot water and a few minutes to enjoy the fragrance.

It’s a wonderfully uncomplicated way to enjoy a good cuppa.

The Pleasure of Brewing Loose Leaf Nettle and Rose

One of the loveliest things about loose leaf herbal tea is being able to see the ingredients.

With Nettle and Rose, the leaves and floral pieces create a beautiful mixture before you’ve even added the water.

As the tea begins to infuse, the nettle releases its gentle green character while the rose contributes its delicate fragrance.

A roomy tea infuser or teapot gives the ingredients space to move freely, allowing their flavours to develop.

Loose leaf tea also lets you adjust the strength according to your preference.

Use a little less for a lighter, more delicate cup, or a little more if you enjoy a fuller herbal flavour.

There’s no need for elaborate equipment.

A simple teapot or mug infuser will do very nicely.

Sometimes the pleasure is as much in making the tea as it is in drinking it.

How to Brew Nettle and Rose Loose Leaf Tea

For a beautifully fragrant cup, we suggest:

  • Use approximately one heaped teaspoon of loose leaf tea per person, 1-2g.
  • Pour over freshly boiled water at 100°C.
  • Allow the herbs and flowers to infuse for approximately 3–7 minutes, depending on your preferred strength.
  • Strain and enjoy.

For a lighter floral infusion, begin with a shorter brewing time.

If you prefer a more pronounced herbal flavour, allow it to infuse a little longer.

Nettle and Rose is best enjoyed without milk, allowing the gentle flavours of the herbs and flowers to shine through.

A little honey can be added if you prefer, but it’s equally lovely just as it is.

And if you forget about your mug for a little while, don’t be too quick to put the kettle on again.

You might find you enjoy it cool, just like Martyn.

Nettle and Rose Makes a Lovely Iced Herbal Tea

The delicate floral character of Nettle and Rose also makes it a lovely choice for iced tea.

It’s a refreshing alternative to stronger fruit infusions, with a gentle herbal flavour that works beautifully when chilled.

For a simple iced Nettle and Rose:

  1. Add approximately two heaped teaspoons of loose leaf tea to 250ml of freshly boiled water.
  2. Allow the tea to infuse for 5–7 minutes.
  3. Strain and leave to cool.
  4. Add 250ml of cold water.
  5. Serve over plenty of ice.

For a little extra flavour, try adding a few fresh raspberries or a thin slice of lemon.

A couple of edible rose petals can also make a pretty finishing touch, provided they’re suitable for culinary use.

It’s a lovely drink for a sunny afternoon, a garden lunch or simply when you fancy something refreshing and naturally caffeine-free.

And as Martyn has demonstrated on more than one occasion, this is a blend that doesn’t mind being enjoyed cold.

A Floral Tea for Every Season

Although Nettle and Rose has a gentle, garden-inspired character, there’s no need to reserve it for spring or summer.

It’s lovely served warm on cooler mornings, with its delicate fragrance rising from the mug.

During warmer weather, it makes a beautifully refreshing iced infusion.

And because it’s naturally caffeine-free, it’s equally enjoyable as an afternoon cuppa or a quiet evening drink.

It’s also a lovely choice for anyone who enjoys exploring the different flavours of herbs and flowers.

From the fresh green notes of nettle to the delicate fragrance of rose, there’s plenty to appreciate in this simple blend.

Sometimes a little touch of the garden is all you need.

They’re particularly handy for work, travelling or whenever you fancy a quick floral cuppa without getting the teapot out.

Discover More Floral and Herbal Teas

If you enjoy the gentle floral character of Nettle and Rose, we have some other lovely blends that are well worth exploring.

Our Lavender and Lemon Verbena combines the fragrant floral notes of lavender with the fresh, citrusy character of lemon verbena.

It’s a beautifully aromatic combination, with the lavender bringing a soft floral fragrance and the lemon verbena adding a lovely lemony freshness.

For another delicate floral blend, our Camomile and Elderflower brings together the mellow, apple-like character of camomile with the gentle sweetness and fragrance of elderflower.

It’s a lovely alternative for anyone who enjoys lighter herbal infusions with a floral finish.

Both are particularly nice choices if you’re exploring our range of naturally caffeine-free flower and herb blends.

If you prefer something with a little more freshness, our Peppermint and Rosemary Loose Leaf Tea 50g offers a fragrant combination of cooling peppermint and aromatic rosemary.
